Bowen QLD, and sights within 100km.
Our stay in Airlie Beach is extended because of torrential rain. We visit Peter Faust Dam, an awesome low cost camp, then continue on to Bowen with its beautiful beaches, but there is so much more than beaches! The rain continues and Cedar Creek Falls turn wild! We hike in 100% humidity to find a WW11 radar site, and have a meal at George’s Diner, a traditional 1950’s diner. Collinsville is an hour West of Bowen, with its coal mining history, murals and it is the Pitt Pony Capital of Australia! We pack up from Bowen in a thunder storm and move 100km to Home Hill where we find another WW11 site, giant spiders and a great Free RV stop!
